About the artwork
This Baroque still life shows a richly filled silver bowl with sliced figs, light grapes, peaches, and cherries. At its center is a spirally peeled lemon, its peel hanging over the edge of the plate. Against a deep dark background and on dark blue velvet fabric, a rich contrast unfolds between the bright fruit pulp and the shimmering metal of the bowl. Fine light reflections on the grape skin and lemon peel give the composition an almost tangible plasticity.
As a wall hanging in the bedroom or dining room, this dark, elegant motif is particularly effective in combination with warm olive tones or velvety textiles that echo the Baroque character of the painting. The original work is by Johannes Hannot, who painted "Still Life with Fruit" in 1668.
