About the artwork
This dense Baroque floral still life depicts a lavish bouquet of red fringed poppies, striped tulips, white and pink roses, and blue morning glories in a simple glass vase against a deep black background. A butterfly perches on one of the poppy blossoms, while small caterpillars and insects can be discovered among the leaves. The vibrant red, pink, and orange tones stand out brilliantly against the dark background, lending the composition a lively, almost three-dimensional depth.

The original artwork is by Jan Davidsz. de Heem, who painted "Still Life with Flowers in a Glass Vase" in 1650.
